About Suzie Walker

I've worked in the publishing field my entire career and have been freelancing for the last four years. Meditation has been a gift in my life, especially benefiting my work, helping me to better balance my workload and keep things in perspective. Keep it easy, effortless, and enjoyable (as my guru taught me!) is priceless.

I've always loved the written word and have found ways to be involved with telling stories and conveying information. My joy of reading and books came from my family, especially my dear grandfather who always shared his books with me. It felt as if he was letting me into a secret, magical world!

I’m a crackerjack editor whose focus is always on readability. Well-written prose conveys with ease and finesse the author’s message, whether the goal is to inform, delight, or inspire. My goal as an editor is to help authors express their messages clearly, concisely, and accurately.

I've edited educational and professional texts throughout my career, and a couple of years ago, added trade manuscripts to my repertoire. Memoirs and biographical texts are a particular favorite. I maneuver easily between fiction and nonfiction assignments.

Meditation and mindfulness practices helped me navigate the tricky waters between full-time, permanent positions to the freelancing world. The beginning of my freelance life was exciting, but fraught with anxiety sometimes; meditation helped me hone in on who I wanted to be and what I wanted to do, as well as attract the kind of work I enjoy. Being of service in this way has been very rewarding!
